  • Emergency Relief

We have four outlets across Southern Tasmania and the Southern Midlands where we assist people with food vouchers, food parcels, payment of essential bills, Aurora hardship payments, assistance with Telstra charges, chemist bills for prescriptions, baby formula and other essential needs.

  • Travelling Opportunity Shop (TOP Shop)

We run a service in rural and remote Tasmania, particularly in the Southern Midlands and Central Highlands, with high quality clothing, household items, bedding and linens etc.  The service is not about making money, but about putting assistance into the community where it is most needed.  Where possible, this service offers Emergency Relief support to clients in need also.

  • NILS

UnitingCare Tasmania’s team of Emergency Relief staff and volunteers, along with representatives from a range of our other programs are accredited NILS loan officers, able to assist clients to apply for loans through the No Interest Loan Scheme.

  • Financial Literacy

The majority of our staff across the state have undertaken training in train the trainer models of financial literacy and budgeting, in order to support clients to understand their financial situation, basic financial concepts, and how to manage their money through budgeting.  This is an important program that provides additional value across the suite of our Family and Community Service programs.

  • Intrepid Explorers

We offer a social support service to socially isolated people (generally elderly) who live in rural and remote Tasmania.  The service offers a monthly bus outing, including lunch.  This is a very popular service and has a long waiting list.

  • Telelinc

This is a phone service to socially isolated people in rural and remote Tasmania which aims to ensure the wellbeing of individuals and provide social contact through regular telephone conversation.

  • Web Kiosks

In our Emergency Relief outlets, we offer web kiosks free of charge for people who want to use the internet to check their email, type a letter or resume, prepare a budget, conduct research over the internet or surf the web.
